Oh god, I hate fur to be quite honest, though that would be the only thing really stopping me. I've always had a softer spot for skin and the human form, so I would only really consider it if I could go back to being human.
Switching between furry and human form would be awesome. If it was a one-way thing, I wouldn't go there.
I'd be interested, but I would also be unlikely to take that plunge unless it was reversible. Or at the very least, I would be unlikely to be among the first to take that plunge.
Right now I think society would have a hard time dealing with such technology. Social norms and views being what they are, I think becoming anthropomorphic would be a little like someone tattooing homosexual artwork to their forehead, surrounded by a rainbow. I think nobody would see the transformation as a fashion statement or as rebellious or badass. I think it would be viewed as a sexual statement, and I don't think that will ever be considered appropriate in public.
Ironically, our only hope to the contrary would probably be fiction, like -- and I truly shudder at the thought -- Twilight. I think I need a shower.

Basically this.
I never liked the way I looked much anyway, so I think I'd consider it for sure even if it was irreversible.

I would do it as long as it is possible to control how much i change. id want to keep my human face and hands but would like the tail and ears. my arms and legs are already rather hairy so the crossover to fur wouldn't be a big deal for me.
PS if anyone pulls off the change i know a guy who wants a cat-girl to take care of him.
No. I want to be a cyborg, not a mutant.
Also, imagine how much of a pain in the ass showering would be, and how much it would SMELL like ass during and afterwards.
Fuck to the yeah.
If we could change back and forth like in Bloody Roar, sure. Otherwise, I'd just want wings, and nothing else.

^^That^^.
Smelling like wet $animal could be ameliorated by some sort of giant hair (well, fur...) dryer, though.
Hmmm... Prehensile cybernetic tail..
[edit]
What would I be? Vaguely leonine, of course...

Fuck mutants, long live cyborgs.
I know if I could I'd leap at the chance to get my arms replaced, at least, and my head would probably be packed to the gills with cyberware.
I've answered this question enough for a life time
100% YES! A real life furry would be amazing. I would totally do this, seeing as humans are disgusting creatures.

What makes you think your anthro self would look any better?
If it was like lycanthropy, only using nanotechnology, rather than a virus, and took effect at will, then yes, I'd be a white tiger. Also it might help to include some armor in the programing, in case of trolls with guns.

Thank goodness we still have users with some sense.

I couldn't do it. Too much maintenance, and possible rust if you can't afford gold. Plus, circuitry gets hot, and I already have a heat allergy.
I'd much rather be completely animal, in appearance at least. I think anthropomorphic animals would look creepy in real life.

Both of you make a decent point, though i for one would think if it was reversible, it'd be cool. always wondered what it would be like to have fur an a tail.. though to be honest id prefer a genetic break though that gave you shifting ability's, but that could get messy too lol
It depends entirely on how long and painful and generally unpleasant the process is. If its some kind of crazy magic step into the chamber and ten second later its a new you then certainly. Probably even if its a one way thing. But if its a solid two years of on-and-off treatments and possibly surgery plus another four years recovery time, then I would probably not be so willing.
If it's some sort of crazy gene therapy then presumably there'd be no surgery involved.
arguably, if its some kind of crazy gene therapy, then it would either require surgery of some measure to get done fast, or take over a decade for the change to finish. Again, if it used something that does not coincide with science as I know it that allows for reasonably quick non-surgery options then I would almost certainly go ahead. But it would take a hell of a lot more than just the physical changes to go through half a decade for that. Somewhere between those two marks is where I draw the line. I just don't know exactly where it is.
I think if we're talking about some kind of treatment that can turn you into a fully functional anthromorph during your lifetime (as opposed to in vitro which is of course also very difficult but seems possible with modern methods and enough experimentation and evil fetus science) we're implicitly talking about some kind of procedure that does not currently exist in modern medicine or science, even gender reassignment surgery which is much better understood and is in many ways easier is in a primitive state, leaving patients mostly a butchered hackjob with organs that have little actual function. Creating a functional prehensile tail or canine-like ears is by comparison even more difficult.
Fleabaths.
No.

Wow, I didn't know Hannibal Lecter was trolling the e621 forums.
I might, but it would be a very difficult transition going straight from a mouth to a beak. If I decided I no longer wish to talk, certainly. However as with anyone undergoing this procedure you had better be ready to fight, as there will be many, many people who will despise you, even though your choice doesn't affect their lives whatsoever. Just like everything else.
Our species is so pathetic.

That isn't angst. That's being a complete bitch.

If it was possible...
So lets say there was a genetic breakthrough, a scientific leap where it suddenly became possible for a human to have his or her genetics crossed with an animal of his or her choosing and become an anthromorphic being... Literally become what we see in pics here, would you?
I would... Though im sure many would shun me and look at me as a freak, I doubt the human race would embrace a new hybrid race with open arms however I think it would be great to actually undergo such a change regardless of haters to our kind. Besides im sure a wolf anthro like myself would be capable of defending herself from whatever human that posed as a threat.
But what about the rest of you? Would you embrace such opportunity? And what would you be?
