The tag implication #52011 calaverita -> face_paint has been rejected.

Reason: As stated on the Wiki for calaveritas (https://e621.net/wiki_pages/53365 ), at this part of Wikipedia it says that calaveritas are a form of face painting.

It should be related to it each time someone uses the "calaverita" tag (also, don't confuse with sugar_skull, that one is perfectly fine, is just the FOOD item of it).

Also, in a note, maybe sugar_skull Wiki page (and Day_of_the_Dead too) should be edited to be more "correct", because sugar skulls are candies, not the face painting itself. Even in Spanish "Calaveritas" and "Calaveritas de Dulce/Chocolate/etc" are used to differentiate between them.

Doesn't Wikipedia also say that the term can be used for decorative skulls? If it can be applied to multiple things, we shouldn't implicate it to face paint

I changed my vote thanks to Strikerman getting me to look closer at the subject. According to Wikipedia, a calaverita is a small gift of candies or money given to children in a tradition similar to trick or treating. Calavera ("skull") refers to any Day of the Dead depiction of a skull. Sugar skulls are a skull-shaped candy (that's sometimes not meant to be eaten) that's a major part of the holiday, but other calaveras include skull face paint, clay toys, and calaveras literarias "literary skulls" which are a genre of poems meant for the Day of the Dead.

My thoughts are to update the current calaverita posts to calavera_face_paint. That would then implicate and skull_face_paint (not all skull face paints are related to the Day of the Dead). Sugar_skull could imply candy, but the main quibble to that implication is that some clay toy skulls would probably be indistinguishable from sugar skulls. Calaveras literarias would be outside the scope of e621, and would be tagged as poem/poetry anyway.

would therefore become an umbrella tag that implies day_of_the_dead. Sugar_skull and calavera_face_paint would both imply it. Any non-sugar skull and face paint examples can be directly tagged as calaveras by whoever recognizes them as such.

The proposed BUR:

That all makes sense to me, but what do we do with the calaverita tag after the update? Alias it to sugar_skull? Or calavera?

I thought of letting it just dangle, but aliasing it to calavera would probably be best, to avoid arguments over whether it refers to the face paint (as OP did) or the candy (as Wikipedia says it could be used for both candy and money, so it's not just sugar skulls and not always candy).
